Jessica Knotts, portraying the blue fairy, rehearses her lines using a dummy stand-in, as she grants toymaker Gepetto's wish to have his creation become a live boy in North Fork's Young People's Workshop production of "Pinocchio this weekend. Watching with a menacing grin is Moody Knotts, playing the coachman who rounds up bad little boys and brings them to Pleasure Island where they are turned into donkeys.

NORTH FORK - The play, "Pinocchio, will be presented this weekend at Kennedy Hall at North Fork Elementary School.
The North Fork Young People's Workshop will have performances on Saturday and Sunday [July 17 and 18]. Saturday's performance is at 11 a.m. for $1 donation.
Sunday's presentation, which will include a brunch at 1 p.m., is $12 per family; $4 adults and $2 student.
For the 14th year , Robyn Flory and Roz Thrapp have guided North Fork youths, from kindergarten through high school in not only memorizing their lines in the one week before the performances, but drawing all the scenery and making props.
This year there are 60 children in the workshop, says Ms. Flory, who runs the fine arts program at North Fork Elementary.

They started on Monday with auditions for parts and put the play together. "Whatever we create, is presented on Saturday and Sunday, she says.
The Sunday brunch before the play was initiated last year and was such a success, it's being served again this year.
So how do they pull a few dozen kids together and create a play in five days? "We stress team work, says Ms. Flory. "This is the only way we can do this.
Many kids come back year after year. "Our big kids help with the little guys, she adds.
