3 mountain residents die in crash
Another resident injured; Madera man also killed

MADERA — Three Mountain Area residents and one man from Madera were killed Monday evening in a traffic wreck that occurred on Road 28 1/2.
The collision, which was reported at approximately 7:06 p.m., took the lives of Matthew Lee Montgomery, 22, of Mariposa and his daughter, Jordyn Skylee Montgomery, 2, of Ahwahnee; Courtney Sue Ressler, 19, of Oakhurst and Letcher Wayne Johnson, 36, of Madera.
A passenger with the Montgomery party, Donovan Graham, 27, of Oakhurst, suffered internal injuries and broken legs and was transported to University Medical Center. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The California Highway Patrol says Mr. Johnson was traveling north in his Toyota at an unknown rate of speed, and the Montgomery party, in a Saturn, was in the southbound lane of traffic.
The force of the collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control and come to rest off the roadway, with the Toyota on the east shoulder of the road, and the Saturn on the west shoulder.

MADERA — Ten members of an 11-person public relations committee were named last week to develop a cost efficient, economical option to solve Oakhurst’s serious wastewater problem and enlarge its facility to handle more waste.
Supervisor Gary Gilbert [District 5-Mountain Area] released the names, each member representing a particular segment of the community.
The Madera County Board of Supervisors doubles as the District 22A board, which formally made the appointments.
Purpose of the panel is to determine an appropriate option of several presented to an informational committee which has been meeting for several months by a project team from Kitchell, capital expenditures managers.
Mr. Gilbert said the committee will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Ol’ Kettle Restaurant on Wednesday [December 5] to discuss the community’s entire wastewater problem and move toward a solution.
